Puzzle Cube

A real 3×3 cube you can turn, solve, race and learn.

About this experience

Puzzle Cube

Puzzle Cube is a free virtual 3×3×3 twisty cube that runs in your browser on desktop, phones and tablets. Every turn changes a real model of the puzzle, so scrambles are always solvable and every finished cube is a genuine solution. Drag a sticker to turn its layer, drag the background to look around, and pinch or scroll to zoom. There is nothing to install and no account is required.

What you can do

  • Standard Solve at your own pace, with or without three levels of hints
  • Timed Solve practice, or ranked attempts with a 15-second inspection and server-checked times
  • Learn to Solve with interactive beginner lessons that adapt when you make a different move
  • Daily Challenge: the same scramble for everyone, reset at midnight Central
  • Replay your solves, share result cards, try famous patterns and customize the cube

How to play

  1. Pick a mode from the menu.
  2. Drag across a sticker to turn that row or column. The layer follows your finger and snaps into place.
  3. Drag empty space (or right-drag, or use two fingers) to rotate the view. Use Reset Camera to return to the starting angle.
  4. Solve the cube so every face is a single color.

Notation in brief

Letters name the layer facing you: F front, B back, U up, D down, L left and R right. A plain letter is a clockwise quarter turn as you look at that face, an apostrophe (R′) is counterclockwise, and a 2 (R2) is a half turn. Puzzle Cube always shows notation relative to how you are currently holding the cube.

Fair timing

Ranked and Daily attempts use a Puzzle Cube competition format inspired by speedcubing events: the scramble comes from the server, turning is locked during 15 seconds of inspection, and the clock starts automatically. The server replays your exact moves to confirm they solve the issued scramble and checks your time against its own clock. Hints, undo and automatic solutions are not available in ranked play. Results are Puzzle Cube rankings, not official competition times.
