How to play

  1. Touch the ball at the bottom of the court (or press the mouse on it).
  2. Swipe up toward the hoop. A longer, quicker swipe adds power; a short or slow one falls short. About a third of a phone screen is a good start.
  3. Steer with direction. Swiping slightly left or right aims left or right. Check the breeze arrow and aim against it.
  4. Release to shoot. A small breeze changes between balls, then stays fixed through the shot. Matching aim, power, arc and breeze give the same result.

Keyboard: hold Space to fill the power meter and release near the sweet spot. ← → aim, ↑ ↓ change arc, Esc pauses, M mutes. You can also choose Low, Normal or High arc on screen.

Modes: Practice has unlimited shots and an optional trajectory guide. 60 Seconds scores every basket before the buzzer. 10 Shots grades exactly ten attempts. Streak ends on your first miss.

A free 3D basketball free throw game

Free Throw Challenge puts you at the line in a full indoor arena. Swipe or drag upward from the basketball to shoot: the length and speed of your swipe set the power and its direction sets your aim. Every shot is simulated with gravity, air drag, backspin and real collisions with a regulation 10-foot rim, glass backboard and net, so front-rim misses, rattles and bank shots all behave like the real thing.

How to shoot a free throw

Press Play, put your thumb or mouse on the ball and swipe smoothly toward the hoop. Start with a swipe about a third of the screen tall. Too short and the ball hits the front rim; too long and it bangs off the glass. Read the breeze before each ball and aim a little against its arrow. Choose a low, normal or high arc; higher shots spend longer in the breeze. The conditions vary between shots, so repeating one exact gesture will not always score. Once you start aiming, the breeze stays steady and the result depends on your shot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Touch shooting works in portrait and landscape, and swiping on the court never scrolls or zooms the page.
Can I play with a keyboard?
Yes. Hold Space to fill the power meter, release near the sweet spot, and use Left/Right to aim and Up/Down to change arc.
Where are my records saved?
Personal bests and practice stats stay in this browser using local storage. Existing personal bests carry over to the arena update. There is no account or online leaderboard, and clearing site data removes them.
